Description

Peninsular Marine Replacement Soft Start Relay assembly as a kit.

This is the electrical system used to handle the amperage for the starter solenoid engagement and also has the breaker used to protect the wiring in between the engine and the instrument cluster at the helm. This assembly is necessary when upgrading the starter from a 1st generation direct drive starter (external starter solenoid) system and to replace when someone not so bright has re-wired the starter system on your engine and you need to return it back to working. This system was in place on all engines that had the ccw 2nd generation direct drive starter with integrated starter solenoid, and engines with ccw rear-mount gear reduction starters. Symptoms of a missing or mis-wired soft start system is blowing the instrument cluster fuse. Being this is always installed on the back of the engine with the starter, the connections get to see more exposure to the sea elements, so sometimes the whole thing just needs to be replaced. General wiring instructions are included with the assembly.
