Oil Pump High Volume With Pickup 97-up 506 Blocks

OE High Volume oil pump for 1997 and up 6.5L engines with the 506 block, which includes piston-oil spray cooling.

This pump is sometimes sold for improved oil pressure in blocks that don't have piston oil spray cooling. While this may seem like a good idea there are some side affects. During high rpm use (think engines in vehicles geared low and on-highway) this pump can starve when too much oil is sent upwards and cannot return to the pan fast enough. This pump may also when not used for it's intended application cause a small parasitic loss in delivering more volume than needed because it's larger with larger vanes.

We use the standard volume pump in non-spray blocks during rebuild and see great oil pressure when bearing clearances and all are right.
