Unique Diesel is an e-commerce business handling high quality automotive engines, and related components. The focus of this store (formerly udgmtruck.com) is offering components we use our self in personal engine builds, replacements, performance and general maintenance. The 6.2 and 6.5L Diesel engines have become a classic engine design that has a great amount of support with a quality OEM like AM General's General Engine Products and fuel system components from Stanadyne and Bosch, and many aftermarket providers. Because GM's support for this engine has pretty much ended there are offerings from several aftermarkets. Some aftermarket parts are good, while others are simply off-shore garbage. We weed out the suspect and provide the performers.
Finding and Identifying parts in this store
We've tried to identify parts in the store by giving them names that are easy to search for. Please make use of the Search box on the store as it's a powerful tool to find the items you're looking for.
Items are categorized in this store into many major categories. These categories also have sub-categories to make it easier to find groups of parts and items.
How to identify the grade and quality of a part or component on this store? Items that are "New" in condition will just be the description for the item. Items that are "Used" will start out with the title Used. Items that are remanufactured or rebuilt or reconditioned will bare the name "Reman". Additionally, when we use the term "OE" that means Original Equipment, as made by a previous OEM or current OEM of the 6.5L engine, effectively non-aftermarket.
About business on the phone
Unique Diesel does not conduct business on the phone. This website is provided as an online store that is the salesman and provides all the steps to place and order and make a payment. UD is a small business, and in small business you can either have a poorly operated website and supplement with phone sales, or you can have a great website and have limited phone or no phone. UD has always been a business operated online through online sales and electronic communication. The website is the salesman in that products are described, organized, and made available for customers to find all the time, not just during business hours. One of the problems with phone is the abundance of requests for assistance doing what the website already does. Another problem with phone is the requests for project consulting or technical assistance related but not about a particular product purchase. The website sparks interest in specific products and then requests are then made for things outside of the product offerings available on the website, the phone gets used as a tool to attempt to extend offerings beyond our intended use. All of the requests on a phone call are expected to receive a responses instantaneously typically over things not easily answered or explained. We simply do not operate in this mode of manual phone salesmanship and prefer all requests to be in writing via email so that things can be considered properly when they can be answered at all. We address all reasonable product and purchase support requests made on the contact form by email. The website regularly changes based on requests and feedback we receive in writing, we actively work on improving. A lot of time is devoted to products to properly picture and describe them, especially complicated products where we really write a lot about. Detailed product descriptions must simply be read and understood because they will not be described another way in a phone conversation. We understand that phone can be preferred, and that if phone is required you will be better served at another business. Phone simply cannot be accommodated and do the things we need to do the way we want to do it.
Business operating location
Unique Diesel is solely an online business operating in the United States of America in the great state of Texas near the city of Lubbock. Operationally, customer business relations are handled online and Logistically all orders are fulfilled ourselves and shipped out. Our operational locations are not open to the public. We do not accept payment or pickup of items at our locations, all items will be paid in advance and shipped to a customer, even to customers in the same ZIP code that we operate.
Bulk ordering of components
This store is setup to prohibit bulk ordering of individual components. Many components are setup to allow ordering of the amount of an item as found on 1 engine assembly or 1 vehicle per order. We do not limit multiple orders. While we may have more of an item available to strategically have inventory available we are not focused on warehousing, but on individual sales. With that said, we may be able to provide quantity of items from our supplier and distribution networks on an as-needed basis. Orders for specific items will be quoted based on current replacement pricing and provided a lead-time (typical 6-weeks) for fulfillment, order will not come out of existing inventory. Use the Sales contact form and select Bulk Ordering as the subject while logged into your customer account to make the request.
Store usability - Phone vs Computer
This store is compatible with both full-featured computers and mobile devices such as Phones. While the store is compatible with a phone, your experience will be limited by the small screen and changes in how the store appears and navigates. We prefer to use a mobile device only when absolutely necessary, but afforded the opportunity a computer always works better. These statements are being made due to the "mobile first" initiatives on the internet that effectively are "limiting" what sites can and can't do, and it's result is less is more, or wait, is less always less (we think so).
Main point: if you're looking for something and want the best experience, fire up the computer (heck, they cost less than a phone now days) and give the site a whirl, you'll be glad you did.
