Current Status
In late 2017 Peninsular Engines Inc. closed for business ending a long
involvement in marine diesel propulsion using the General Motors
designed 6.2 and 6.5 diesel engines since 1984. In early 2018 Unique
Diesel purchased all Peninsular Engines, Inc. assets, which turned into
parts support for Peninsular's inboard marine diesel engine platform. Unique Diesel provided near full parts support for the Peninsular inboard marine diesel engine platform from 2018 through 2024. Severe and Abnormal events occurred in 2024-2025 that disabled the ability to continue to host the standalone marine website and continue to provide a suitable level of product parts support.
Parts NOT available for Retail Purchase?
Most proprietary replacement parts are not available. These parts are items that are produced in quantity through a manufacturing process. Examples are casted items like Marine Exhaust Manifolds, Risers, Turbocharger, Thermostat Housing, Pulleys, Housings, and Exhaust discharge elbows. While its possible to produce these items, we are unable to invest in the time and expense of utilizing existing tooling at new production and machining facilities to make that happen. Most items affected by this required change in sourcing are unavailable for purchase individually even if some items remain. What individual items remain are in remote storage with their matching tooling and are no longer tracked in inventory and cannot be sold. Questions on individual stocking quantities are not possible to answer because no inventory of items is available. The only question that can be entertained is to someone looking for a bulk purchase of an individual item. If these components are needed get a stocking distributor to forge a relationship with us to make quantity of these components that they will provide. That's the only way it's going to happen.
Parts available for Retail Purchase?
Throughout the 2018-2024 time frame we tracked simple items that we can still source that were items that sold consistently. This is a work in progress, so if something is needed and is not affected by the categories of parts mentioned above, then contact us about availability. These simple items will be available while eliminating items that are in competition with items sold at other businesses attempting to profit on their own inferior offerings. Not interested in competing against knock-off parts or facilitating profitability for others by producing the hard to find items. Find remaining items available at the following store category page: www.uniquediesel.com/marine
What is for Sale, the Peninsular Business?
Need Parts? Get a Stocking Distributor on-board.
Throughout Unique Diesel's service to the Peninsular platform local stocking was used whereby production of components was made at our expense and then stocked, rotating stock occurred between production runs of manufactured items. We are no longer in the position to operate in this mode. It is possible that a stocking distributor relationship could be developed whereby any component desired could be produced at the distributor's expense up front and the distributor would be purchasing the whole lot when complete. The distributor would stock the items and distribute the items to customers. A distributorship relationship could be established in whole or in part covering just certain category lines.
We would recommend reaching out to general suppliers in the "Marine" industry to voice your needs and interest in buying Peninsular parts. In doing some research it seems that these resellers may be able to handle this, but they would need boat owners express interest in buying parts.

A separate Peninsular part number system is available for use that matches the part numbers and descriptions found in the Peninsular Engine Components parts manual. Strategically parts available on this online store apply to Automotive applications, unless specifically mentioned or categorized for Marine use. Peninsular marine part numbers no longer conflict with Automotive components we sell. This is beneficial for a distributor because a distributor would have availability to solely service Peninsular parts with Peninsular part numbers and Peninsular branding without conflict for similar yet different parts we sell for Automotive applications.
