Current Status

In late 2017 Peninsular Engines Inc. closed for business ending a long involvement in marine diesel propulsion using the General Motors designed 6.2 and 6.5 diesel engines since 1984. In early 2018 Unique Diesel purchased all Peninsular Engines, Inc. assets, which turned into parts support for Peninsular's inboard marine diesel engine platform. Unique Diesel provided near full parts support for the Peninsular inboard marine diesel engine platform from 2018 through 2024. Abnormal events occurred in 2024-2025 necessitating a decision of change. We are currently seeking a buyer for the Peninsular marine tooling and parts.

Parts NOT available for Retail Purchase?

Most proprietary replacement parts are not available. These parts are items that are produced in quantity through a manufacturing process. Examples are casted items like Marine Exhaust Manifolds, Risers, Turbocharger, Thermostat Housing, Pulleys, Housings, and exhaust discharge elbows. While its possible to produce these items, we are unable to invest in the time and expense of utilizing existing tooling at new production and machining facilities. Items affected by this required change in sourcing are unavailable for purchase individually even if some items remain. These type of items take great expense to keep available, while other businesses exploited their availability to sell their own items to compete with other basic components we sell.

Parts available for Retail Purchase?

Throughout the 2018-2024 time frame we tracked simple items that we can still source that were items that sold consistently. This is a work in progress, so if something is needed and is not affected by the categories of parts mentioned above, then contact us about availability. These simple items will be available while eliminating items that are in competition with items sold at other businesses attempting to profit on their own inferior offerings. Not interested in competing against knock-off parts or facilitating profitability for others by producing the hard to find items. Find temporary remaining items available at the following store category page: www.uniquediesel.com/marine

If you have the capability to purchase the property, we are interested in discussing this with serious qualified purchasers. The reality is this is being officially and finally offered for sale here in 2026 and we currently have the ability to sell items complete. Everything marine can be separated from our primary business independently, immediately, without disruption, and without creating product conflicts. Storage of all the property will be a concern throughout 2026, especially bulk inventory and the casting molds and tooling which are being stored at our expense. These items will not be stored past this year, and unfortunately if a buyer is not identified or if another arrangement is not made to utilize the tooling then they will be destroyed. It's not fruitful to store items that are not being used.

Stocking Distributor Concession?

Throughout Unique Diesel's service to the Peninsular platform local stocking was used whereby production of components was made at our expense and then stocked, rotating stock occurred between production runs of manufactured items. We are no longer in the position to operate in this mode. It is possible that a stocking distributor relationship could be developed whereby any component desired could be produced at the distributor's expense up front and the distributor would be purchasing the whole lot when complete. The distributor would stock the items and distribute the items to customers. A distributorship relationship could be established in whole or in part covering just certain category lines.
